Sadanlal Sanwaldas Khanna Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Prayagraj established in 1975 (International Year of Women) is a prestigious constituent college of the University of Allahabad and was accredited with "A" Grade by NAAC in its 3rd Cycle of Accreditation in 2021. Founded by Late Prof. Damodardas Khanna and distinguished philanthropists, the institution has consistently worked towards providing quality higher education to women, particularly from marginalized and underprivileged sections of society.

From its humble beginning with only 25 students, the college has evolved into a multi-faculty institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law. Since the academic session 2019-20, the college has also introduced D.Phil. programmes in selected disciplines of Arts and Science.

SSKGDC emphasizes academic excellence, holistic development and social responsibility. Along with conventional degree programmes, the institution offers Diploma in Biotechnology, UGC-approved Diploma in Fashion Designing and professional computer courses such as O-Level, CCC and Tally.

Committed to promoting research and knowledge dissemination, the college publishes the annual print journal "ANVEEKSHA RESEARCH JOURNAL OF SSKGDC" (ISSN 2581-8163). It has also launched "Anusandhan Pravah", a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary online research journal providing a platform for scholarly communication and interdisciplinary research.

The institution has received several prestigious grants and recognitions including DBT Star College Scheme (2020) and DST-CURIE Grant (2022). Departments of Chemistry, Botany and Zoology have been strengthened under these initiatives supported by the Government of India.

In accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was established in the academic session 2021-22 and earned a 4-Star Rating in the IIC Annual Performance Assessment. The college has also registered under the Vidyanjali-HE Scheme and successfully completed the tenure of CPE Phase-II in March 2022. Currently, the institution maintains several active academic and research collaborations through MoUs with reputed organizations.

SSKGDC encourages critical thinking, innovation and leadership through initiatives such as the Damodarshree National Award, a prestigious national-level academic essay competition. The college introduced the integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme in 2019 and launched the Justice Gopalji Mehrotra Moot Court Competition in 2023 to nurture legal advocacy and professional excellence among students.

The institution proudly hosts distinguished scholars, jurists, administrators and national leaders. Eminent personalities such as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Mr. Vikas Swarup, Prof. Dinesh Singh and Hon’ble Chief Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud have visited the campus and inspired generations of students through their presence and interactions.

Saraswat Khatri Pathshala Society was founded by the Late Sadanlal Ji on the pious Basant Panchami day in 1921. The zeal and generosity of Late Sadan Lal Ji made many philanthropists and educationists join him in organizing a trust, which was registered in 1928, and is now known as The Saraswat Khatri Pathshala Society. We are grateful to our patrons Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.B. Mehrotra, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Markandey Katju, Dr. S.S. Khanna, Shri Shyam Narain Kapoor, Late Prof. D.D. Khanna and Shri Shyam Narain Kapoor, whose help and guidance is enabling us to run four educational institutions. S.K. Inter College established in 1921, Navin Shishu Vatika in 1968, S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree College in 1975 and Tagore Public School in 1988. The society has made provision of awarding scholarships of Rs. 5.00 lakhs to talented and deserving students of all its four renowned institutions.

Under the vision, guidance and financial contributions of many great souls like Hon’ble Justice Arun Tandon, Shri Harish Chandra Khanna, President of the Society, Prof. P.N. Mehrotra, Mr. Rajeev Khanna, Dr. Asha Seth, Prof. Ranjana Kakkar, Dr. R.K. Tandon, Mr. Mahesh Ji Kapoor, Mr. Amit Khanna, Mrs. Meena Tandon together with other noted educationists have fostered in imparting competence, excellence, binding humanity and creating an atmosphere of cordiality, fellow feeling and concern for environment from which students will imbibe knowledge and wisdom.
